Did you know that most private investigators are ex police officers, allowing them access to many government databases and even very private information?

This means they can access information that most civilians can’t. However, most of the information private investigators seek out and find is public information. Texas is a big state so you can imagine that there are a lot of public records on a lot of people.

You can find out criminal background information, tax lien information, and you can even search for death, birth and marriage certificates.

With all of this information at your fingertips, anyone can become their own private investigator and they never have to hide in the bushes or conduct stake outs all night in their cars.

Your First Case

Let’s assume that someone stole your cell phone. You have an idea who took it but you can’t prove it. Suddenly you pull up your phone bill online and you see that there are some calls made by this person. You call that number and the person actually answers.

You can glean just a little information over the phone by disguising your voice or pretending to be someone else and then you can take that information to the Texas public records office and you can search through there. Let’s say you only have a first name and a phone number.

Sometimes, you can do a reverse phone search to find an address. Or you might be able to get a birth date and then search birth records to find the culprit’s real name. These are all great ideas on how you can become your own private investigator all by only using Texas public records.

Many Uses

If you’re in the need of information for whatever reason; maybe you’re interviewing for a job and you want to check to see that your applicants are being honest with you; maybe you are dating someone and want to see if they’re really not married; or maybe you just want to check to see if the house you’re living in has had any major repairs in the last few years.

These are all things you can find by checking Texas public records. There are many more uses, of course, just know that those records are there for you free of charge whenever you need them. And you won’t have to hire a P.I. because you’ll become your very own private investigator just by searching this information.
